Summary

Weekly let, sleeps 6, log stove, large garden, broadband internet, half mile from village centre. One bathroom. Up to two well behaved dogs allowed. Sorry no other pets unless agreed. Details

Good sized 3 bedroom holiday cottage (1 x double, 2 x twin), spacious living room with log stove, kitchen and porch. Sited in fairly large natural woodland garden (about 0.4 acre, 50m x 35m). Half mile from village centre (shop, coffee shop, village pub, food etc).

TV (22" LCD), Sky Digital (free channels only), DVD, mini stereo. Selection of DVDs and games.
Cooker (twin oven), dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, vacuum cleaner, iron, hair drier.
Bath and electric shower (over bath). Shaving power point and mirror in hall. Night storage radiators in most rooms (off peak) and high level electric bar wall radiators.

Up to two well behaved dogs allowed. Sorry no other pets unless agreed. Strictly no smoking (minimum £80 cleaning surcharge). Does not include use of garage

Included: Linen (but not towels), supply of logs, telephone (limited UK calls only), free broadband internet* (Wi-Fi and Ethernet router). *note no guarantee of internet availability. Computer not provided. Weather Station display.

2008 improvements: Shower installed, w/c and hot water tank replaced. Fence replacement completed Now fully enclosed.. Roof ridge replaced and other roof maintenance. Kitchen next!

Extra: electricity charged at unit rate (May 2006, standard £0.14 unit, night storage heat £0.06 unit) This is payable by cheque after staying.

15% off second and subsequent full weeks.

Weekly Saturday 4pm to Saturday 11am. Full week let prices listed. Part weeks on discresion. 6 nights 100%, 5 nights 80%, 4 nights or less 70%. Max 6 people. Sorry no smoking, no pets (except guide dogs), no sub-letting.

Bookings only being taken for dates listed. Note the property is not available for Hogmanay (New Year) week.

Deposit £60 per week booked. Full payment six weeks in advance. Electricity charged at unit rate. Payment by cheque or PayPay (PayPal account or credit / debit card). See full Terms & Conditions.

Environmental

Carbon neutral. Log stove (logs from local forests which are mostly FSC certified) and 100% renewable energy supplied by Good Energy. Request do not set the night stores above “input: 5 and boost: 5” unless very cold! Entirely low energy lighting (CF and LED). Constructed with Canadian red cedar. Garden organic. Some deadwood retained for wildlife. Compost bin. Recle collections and village facilities.Useful info at Strathspey Waste Action Network.


Bruach

Bruach (or bruaich), is gaelic for: bank, brink, small extent of rising ground, a brae, or a short ascent.


Location

Carrbridge is a picturesque village located in Strathspey beneath the Monadhliath (Gray) Mountains. A village with local character, excellent access to the surrounding countryside, it's wildlife and many outdoor sporting activities. Less busy than Aviemore which is six miles south, but as good a location to explore the Highlands. Carrbridge is within the Cairngorm National Park. One minute from Woodland Trust Glencharnoch Wood with walks.

Transport

Foot & Cycle: National Cycle Route 7 (Glasgow to Inverness) passes through Carrbridge (½ mile). Bruach is on the 'off road' Route 7 to Slochd via Sluggan bridge.

Carrbridge Station

Train: Carrbridge Station is two minutes walk from Bruach. See First ScotRail for times and timetable or National Rail Carrbridge Departure Board.

Road: Local bus services by Rapsons. Services 15, 35, 36 and 136 stop in Carrbridge. See 'Strathspey and Badenoch Area' timetable. By car, 3 miles from the main A9. Turn up Station Road in village centre next to old bridge (opposite Spar shop). ½ mile, on RHS before left turnoff to station, and before passing under railway line.

Air: Inverness Airport which is located at Dalcross, 10 miles to the east of Inverness close to the A96 Inverness-Aberdeen trunk road.

Bike hire: Ian Bishop Cycles & Mountain Bike Centre (The Slochd). Mountain Bike Hire. 4 miles north of Carrbridge on National Cycle Route 7. Bothy Bikes mountain bike shop & hire ½ mile out of Aviemore, on the Cairngorm Ski road, Rothiemurchus.


Garden Wildlife

Common: blue tit, coal tit, great tit, chaffinch, greenfinch, goldfinch, siskin, robin, wren, house sparrow, blackbird, hooded crow (local hybrid), great spotted woodpecker, tree creeper, collared dove, wood pigeon, red deer, red squirrel, hedgehog, common toad, pipistrelle bats, Scots pine (including a 'granny pine'), silver birch, rowan.

Regular: brambling, goldcrest, bullfinch, dunock, redpole, redwing, song thrush, long tailed tit, crested tit, pied wagtail.

Occasional: Scottish crossbill.

In area, many more birds and mammals including: golden eagle, osprey, buzzard, capercaille, oystercatcher, lapwing, dipper, owls, roe deer, mountain hare, badger, pine marten, feral goats, Daubenton's bat
